Chesapeake Cheddar Biscuits

 

Easy cheddar biscuits bathed in seasoned butter and chives.

Ingredients

For the Biscuits

Nonstick cooking spray

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon sugar

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup butter, melted

3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the Topping:

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives

1/2 teaspoon old bay seasoning

Instructions

For the Biscuits:

  1. Preheat oven to 425F. Apply a thin layer of nonstick cooking spray to 8 wells of a muffin pan.

  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk and butter.

  4. Gently fold buttermilk mixture into dry ingredients, followed by the cheese. Try not to overmix.

  5. Scoop the batter evenly into the prepared wells.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes for soft center, 12 minutes for a flakier center.

For the Topping:

Combine butter, chives, and old bay in a small bowl and brush the biscuits right after they come out of the oven.
