Kitty-Do Grilled Shrimp

 

“Do” (pronounced doe) is a suffix that means “way” or “path”, akin to method and technique. Master this grilling technique and enlightenment will be yours.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon ginger

1/4 cup soy

2 tablespoons lime juice

1 tablespoon mirin

1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

10 large shrimp

Instructions

  1. Combine ginger, soy sauce, lime juice, mirin, sesame oil and vegetable oil.

  2. Marinate shrimp in the mixture for up to 1 hour.

  3. Insert 2 metal skewers through 5 shrimp, alternating vegetables of your choice in between. Repeat with remaining shrimp.

  4. Preheat a gas BBQ grill to about 250F. Place shrimp skewers on the grill, close the lid, and cook for 1 minute. Increase heat; when temperature reaches 325F, open the lid, flip the shrimp, using tongs, to cook the other side, and close the lid. Increase heat again; when temperature reaches 400F, turn the grill off and wait about 30 seconds. Transfer shrimp to a plate and allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before eating.

An Asian-inspired marinade, and an easy method for perfectly grilled shrimp.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Once shimmering, add ground beef and garlic salt. Brown the ground beef and remove as much excess grease as possible.
  2. Add the beans, ketchup, mustard and two tablespoons of water.
  3. Mix well and simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the cheese over the top and cover the skillet for 1 minute to melt the cheese.
  5. Remove from heat and sprinkle the top with the onions.
  6. Dress the lettuce with Thousand Island.
