French Onion Crostini

 

An elegant appetizer, featuring Chef Alicia's signature spice blend, Distilled French Onion.

Ingredients

1/4 cup jarred onion jam

1/2 cup grated Gruyère

1 teaspoon Distilled French Onion

8 1/2-inch rounds of French baguette

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.

  2. Combine onion jam, Gruyère and Distilled French Onion.

  3. Brush bread with olive oil and sprinkle a pinch of salt on each. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 7 minutes.

  4. Tansfer crostini to a plate to cool slightly.

  5. Shift oven to broil mode. Top each crostini with a mound of the onion filling, transfer them back to the baking sheet and broil for 1 minute, until the cheese is melted.

  6. Garnish the top of each crostino with fresh thyme leaves.
