French Onion Crostini
An elegant appetizer, featuring Chef Alicia's signature spice blend, Distilled French Onion.
Ingredients
1/4 cup jarred onion jam
1/2 cup grated Gruyère
1 teaspoon Distilled French Onion
8 1/2-inch rounds of French baguette
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400F.
Combine onion jam, Gruyère and Distilled French Onion.
Brush bread with olive oil and sprinkle a pinch of salt on each. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 7 minutes.
Tansfer crostini to a plate to cool slightly.
Shift oven to broil mode. Top each crostini with a mound of the onion filling, transfer them back to the baking sheet and broil for 1 minute, until the cheese is melted.
Garnish the top of each crostino with fresh thyme leaves.
