Patty Melt Egg Rolls
Crushed caraway seeds mixed into seasoned ground beef, onion jam and American cheese. GENIUS!
Ingredients
6 ounces ground beef
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
4 teaspoons onion jam
4 slices American cheese
4 egg roll wrappers
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup Thousand Island dressing
1 scallion, chopped
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 375F.
Add beef to a skillet over medium-high heat. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper and cook until browned. Drain any fat from the mixture; set aside.
Place caraway seeds on a clean surface and use a mallet or small pan to gently crush them (mortar and pestle works well). No need to pulverize; just break the seeds open a bit.
Add crushed caraway seeds to the ground beef; mix well.
Place one of the egg roll wrappers on a clean surface like a diamond, with a corner facing you. Place 1/4 of the beef in the middle of the wrapper. Top the beef with a teaspoon of onion jam, spreading it evenly across the top. Fold one slice of American cheese in half and place it over the onion jam.
Fold the bottom corner of the egg roll wrapper up over the filling, tuck in both sides and roll into a cylinder, stopping short of rolling all the way. Moisten the top corner with water; finish rolling up so the moistened corner seals the egg roll and the filling is fully enclosed.
Repeat for remaining 3 egg rolls.
Brush the outside of the egg rolls with olive oil and transfer them to the air fryer basket in a single layer (not touching, to promote even cooking).
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, until brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
Remove the egg rolls from the air fryer and cool slightly. Cut each egg roll in half. Serve with Thousand Island and chopped scallions.
